Derrick Shepherd, a Louisiana state senator, had his law license suspended by the Louisiana Supreme Court and was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering. His trial will begin in October for the conspiracy to money laundering charges in which he is charged with helping an unlicensed bond broker launder money to conceal her illegal operation of an insurance business.
